THIS SUNDAY, Jan. 31, we begin a practice in worship, where we will share ways we have carried the love of God out to a hurting world. Come to consider how the work of justice is the work of love. We share, not out of any sense of accomplishment, but to celebrate how this community of faith impacts the greater world. We catch joy from one another as we embody the love of God! Join Rev. Lauren Cannon and the Justice Leadership Program interns this evening, Sunday, Jan. 31, at Keystone for a study of Nonviolence. The evening starts at 5:30pmwith a potluck, and class from 6-8pm. Thanks to Christian, Michelle and Margaret for making homemade food for the Jan. 31 nonviolence class, with our JLP interns.
Lauren will be teaching and Elizabeth Dickinson is leading some pieces of as well. All are welcome!
Families: Sunday Worship: Pick up Children's Activity pages & crayons on the welcome table every week as you come in to worship (based on the scripture of the day.) There are two types: younger children & older children. Children of any age are always part of worship & welcome!
• Childcare with Anita, open every Sunday 10:00am- 12pm
• Sunday School (multi-age) downstairs, during sermon & prayers time: approximately 10:45-11:15am. (Help younger children to class after the scripture is read; and then pick them up to return for start of communion)
NOTE: Children with parent/caregiver are always welcome to move between the Sanctuary & Narthex (welcome area) during any part of worship, or to rove to classrooms downstairs/upstairs, or enjoy the playground out back!

Tolt UCC -Clothing & Textile Drive
Keystone Member Elvina Spoon is collecting clothing and textile items for Tolt UCC in Carnation. She will be collecting bagged items Sunday at church service.
Tolt UCC is accepting bags full of:
- Clothing new & gently used
- shoes, paired only
- towels
- stuffed animals
- hats
- sheets
- blankets
- quilts
- bedspreads
- drapes
- purses & belts
- soft sided luggage
All items must be clean & dry.
This clothing drive allows these items to be re-worn, recycled or repurposed for the good of our planet.

Sacred Heart Saturday is February 6
Keystone folks will have the pleasure of preparing and serving a meal for Sacred Heart Shelter on Saturday, February 6.We need people who can cook/donate: – Lasagna, veggie and regular – Salad – Bread – Milk & juice – Dessert. Please help the Justice Leadership Program find young adults for the 2016/17 year! Check out new videos of our interns on our website.
In the last season, we lit the advent candle for Peace. As we read news stories every day, we know there is a long path towards peace in our nation. The violence of poverty, racism, and fear manifests in the deaths of those who are most marginalized in our society at an alarming and unacceptable rate. As Christians, we are called to affirm the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., “True peace is not merely the absence of tension it is the presence of justice”--- in word and deed.
The Justice Leadership Program, supported by the Pacific Northwest Conference as well as many local congregations, is a part of the UCC’s work towards a more just and peaceful society. The Justice Leadership Program gives young adults the opportunity to develop their faith, build their skills around advocacy and community organizing, and lead our congregations in being a justice-seeking people.
Many young adults returned to their home congregations during this time of year. We encourage you to follow up with those whom you may have connected with, and
mention the Justice Leadership to these young adults. Many of them will be considering the Peace Corp or AmeriCorps, but not know their own denomination has this opportunity!
To learn what current UCC interns are doing, visit our website to see short video clips. Please print out the one pager and trifold to put them in a visible place in your church and forward information (via email or Facebook) about the program to any young adults you may know!

Register for Interfaith Advocacy Day!
It's Your Last Chance to Join us in Olympia!
Interfaith Advocacy Day is right around the corner, on Thursday, February 4! We have a great day planned for you, complete with workshops, caucuses, food, meetings with legislators, and even an opportunity to sing in the rotunda! Online registration closes at midnight on January 31, but you can register after that by calling our offices at (206) 625-9790 between 9 AM and 5 PM.
To help you find your way to Olympia, we've set up a new self-help carpool link. Use it to connect with others coming from your area. In addition, there will be vans leaving from a few key locations in the morning, with possibilities in Ballard, the U-District, and Bellevue. Don't miss out on this opportunity to learn about Legislative Agenda issues and advocate with other people of faith! After you register, you will receive an email with key background information next week.

Pastoral Care & Keystone UCC Hours:
Rich and Lauren can be reached at the Keystone office: (206) 632-6021. This phone is also checked remotely since both Rich and Lauren serve half-time.
Mondays: the church office is closed. Mondays are the day that Rich and Lauren take Sabbath. So while there are several groups that meet throughout the day and evening at Keystone, it may take a day for someone to get back to you, if you call on a Monday.
Pastor Rich is available Tuesday to Thursday mornings and Friday evenings, and holds additional office times on Saturdays and Sundays. Not all of these times will Rich be in the church office. If you want to see him, it is best to make an appointment. Email him at rich.gamble@keystoneseattle.org
