join our team for January 26 training Anti-racism

"Anti-racism work for the long term @ Keystone UCC"

Keystone has been assembling a team to attend an all day training together on Tuesday January 26, sponsored by the Church Council of Greater Seattle.  It is to prepare congregations for anti-racism work over the long haul.  The suggestion is 4 people.  Contact Pastor Lauren if you can join our team.  This is an opportunity for Keystone's group to invest in a day that we hope will ripple forward.

Ann Marie Do, one of our Justice Leadership Program interns, has been helping with this at the Church Council of Greater Seattle.  She would welcome talking to anyone who wants to scope it out a bit.

Take a quick look; registration is by today, Jan. 22.

Dr Heather Hackman will lead the day.  She is nationally renowned for her work on race and racism, social justice and multicultural education, and oppression and social change.

Hackman's website shows how she has provided significant leadership within the environmental community and other justice organizations in the Puget Sound.

The approach is toward making strategic and lasting culture shift in organizational culture. Keystone will get the group rate (four people for only $100) and our goal is for a positive impact, as a group of us trains.

You can reach Ann Marie Do, UCC Social Justice Intern, The Church Council of Greater Seattle 206.525.1213 ext. 106 to register, or with questions:  amdo@thechurchcouncil.org

Blessings, Pastor Lauren

More:  This workshop is meant to engage congregations who are exploring an in-depth commitment to undo racism over time, as a way of life and of being church. All who attend should expect to be changed by the experience.

We invite congregations to send a team of up to 4 people, though individuals are also welcome to attend. We ask that teams pay $100. If a team is not possible, we ask that individuals pay $50.

The workshop will take place from 8:30 am to 4 pm at First A.M.E Church, 1522 14th Ave, Seattle, WA 98122. Pay parking is available on site. First A.M.E Church is also accessible via public transportation on bus lines 10, 11, and 12. We will have snacks available but please plan to bring your own lunch.

Registration ends on January 22.
