Reminder: Last Night for Lenten Study

AND: Practice New Ways to Get into Our On Line  Space

Dear Keystone,

Join us tonight for the final meeting of our Lenten Book Study on Naomi Klein's On Fire: The (Burning) Case for a Green New Deal.Tonight we'll discuss chapters 13 “Capitalism Killed our Climate Momentum, Not Human Nature (pages 243-252) or read it online at  https://theintercept.com/2018/08/03/climate-change-new-york-times-magazine/, AND chapter 15, “Movements Will Make, or Break, the Green New Deal” (pages 259-271) or read it online at  https://theintercept.com/2019/02/13/green-new-deal-proposal/), as well as continue our discussion from last week about how we can get the Keystone Green Team involved in the work to bring about a Green New Deal. We'll also look at the possibilities for making Keystone one of the United Church of Christ's Creation Justice Churches. You can see the application to become a Creation Justice church here, and also check out a sample covenant that Creation Justice churches write and promise to live by.
To get into the study, check in with Yuki, Lauren or Rich!
Yuki will open the study up at 6 p.m. for folks who want some on-line video or phone practice (or debugging), and for folks who are up for a little connection time midweek.

Sunday Prayer

In the time before us,
In the time within us,
In the time among us,

we hold our lives
in new ways
with our God
ever-present
ever-longing
to lean with us
into unavoidable unknowns.

God, you are still speaking
as we question everything.

You are minding us
in the tedium,
embracing us
in the weariness and waiting,
shadowing the shadows
of our doubt and judgment
with your tender acceptance.

In this time of distance
shepherd us from illusions
of being apart from one another.

In this great pause
let the song of your morning bird
do what it wants to do
for our souls.

Moisten our hearts to extend and receive compassion.
Freshen our resolve to stand with the stranger.
Nudge us from apathy and indifference.

Steady us in our deepest fears.
Ready us to love in the moment.

As you are, so we must be.

We belong to you, you belong to us
now and forever.

Amen.

See you in the study tonight and in worship, and everywhere we meet this week.
