Tonight: Ash Wednesday supper (mac & cheese, salad, sides) Worship service, & Sunrise Movement launch

Keystone's Collective Lenten Journey Begins Tonight ...

We come together as a community of love, justice, and action to start the journey of Lent, the 40 days that lead up to Easter, with a supper and meditative Ash Wednesday service, followed by some time of learning and discussion about climate action and ways we can support the young leaders who are working to change the world.

This meditative service includes prayer, sung response, and the imposition/sharing of ashes. Lent is traditionally a season of spiritual practices of contemplation, generosity, prayer, and self-discipline.

This day carries a penitential atmosphere, with contrition and sacrifice, but we also find Isaiah signaling a positive interpretation of fasting.

Many contemporary followers of Jesus choose to try a practice for these 6 weeks (rather than abstain.)

The schedule for this evening will be as follows:

6-6:30 p.m.- Simple supper of mac & cheese, salad and sides.

6:30 p.m.- Ash Wednesday Service
Please find a Green Gather Hymnal and a Bible if you might like reflection beforehand. Our scripture is  Isaiah 58: 1-12.

7-8 p.m.: After supper & worship we'll learn with Paisley Maschmeier, Keystone member & Roosevelt H.S. student, who is part of the youth led environmental justice Sunrise Movement.  Paisley will offering us: Sunrise Launch Party with two film clips, which will help lead us toward taking part in collective action on Earth Day, April 22.

We hope you can join us in this gathering as we pray, confess, mourn, and support each other for the journey and work before us.
