This huge challenge can create tens of millions of good jobs and solve our current jobs dilemma. A “Green New Deal” to tackle global warming invests in clean energy (solar, wind), a national smart electrical grid, energy-efficient buildings, fossil-free transportation, zero-waste manufacturing, healthy forests, water management and sustainable agriculture. We can afford this, like we’ve handled past societal challenges (the Great Depression, World War II, the federal highway system). Instead of spending on fossil-fuel company subsidies, wars and tax cuts for the rich, we can invest in green infrastructure and jobs. Our climate dangers are so costly for our children, that we must invest now to transition to a clean energy economy. RALLY & MARCH Sunday, Jan. 21, 9:30am-3:30pm, @ various locations listed below Every year, the Seattle MLK Jr. Organizing Coalition aims to create tangible change in our community! This year, they are backing I-1000 which would redefine affirmative action in Washington, providing equal opportunities through recruitment, hiring, outreach, training, goal-setting and other methods designed to increase diversity. An invitation from Prospect Congregational UCC   27th Annual UCC Men's Retreat at Pilgrim Firs Dear Men and those who care for them, Our 27th annual UCC Men’s Retreat at Pilgrim Firs will be February 1-3, beginning on Friday evening with an optional day of silent retreat starting Thursday evening, January 31. The theme is: "VITALITY in Our Own Lives & Communities".  We will meet together and in small groups as well as joining in song, good food, walks around Lake Flora and the Saturday evening Wisdom Circle for those who want to share reflections. The Silent retreat is always meaningful for those able to participate.
